Welcome, Mercy!
Hello everyone! I am Mercy Ogochukwu Chioma. Please, feel free to call me Mercy. I am a Nigerian. I recently completed a joint Erasmus+ fully funded International Master in Biorefinery from the University of Bari Aldo Moro, Italy, Cracow University of Technology, Poland, and the University of Troyes, France. As a growing biorefinery enthusiast, I am thrilled to join the Sustainable energy carriers, chemicals, and materials research group at the Department of Chemistry, UiB as a PhD student under the supervision of Associate Professor Camilla Løhre. My research will dive into the fascinating world of biomass valorization (biorefinery). Specifically, I will focus on «developing reaction pathways from carbohydrate – rich biomass towards furanic platform chemicals».When I am not in the lab deciphering NMR spectra or debating reaction mechanisms, you can find me either watching the latest (highly rated) Netflix movies, singing along and vibing to music, hiking with friends to escape the lab bench, or convincing my friends that chemistry jokes are hilarious. I am excited to collaborate, learn, and contribute to this vibrant research community. Do not hesitate to say hello if you spot me around!
