Welcome, Sumit!
Hi everyone, I’m Sumit Kumar from Himachal Pradesh, India and I’ve recently joined as a postdoc (Lead Medicinal Chemist) with Prof. Jan Haavik at the Department of Biomedicine. I’ll be leading medicinal chemistry efforts in close collaboration with Prof. Bengt Erik Haug’s research team to discover lead candidates within the multidisciplinary NeuroConvergence project.
My background includes postdoctoral roles as a medicinal chemist at the H3D Centre, University of Cape town, South Africa and Seoul National University, South Korea, along with industrial experience from Sphaera Pharma (R&D), India. I hold an M.Sc. in pharmaceutical chemistry followed by research work as a project assistant and completed my Ph. D (2019) in Medicinal Chemistry with Prof. Vipan Kumar from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, India.
I am excited to be part of this multidisciplinary team and look forward to connecting, working together, collaborating and exploring the city of Bergen and Norwegian culture.
