Akademiaavtalen – New call – Deadline 1 September

The Akademiaavtalen steering committee has decided to announce a new call for funding of mobility, guest researchers and field courses.

Application deadline is 1 September. Applications are submitted via the application portal.

Category 1 – Mobility funds / Professional exchange

Both academic staff and PhD candidates can apply for funding for professional exchange. Permanent scientific staff can also apply for funding to invite guest researchers to UiB.

The call for 2021 includes mobility funds of NOK 800,000 for mobility activities until 31 August 2022.

Application criteria:

  • Scientific staff and PhD candidates can apply for funding to cover costs for going to conferences, seminars and workshops related to the strategic focus areas determined by the steering committee.
  • You can apply for maximum NOK 35 000 per activity.
  • Participations with presentations (oral / poster) are prioritized.
  • Researchers can apply for funding to invite guest researchers to UiB, maximum NOK 35 000, to cover travel and subsistence costs.
  • PhD candidates must have the approval of the supervisor.

Category 2 – Field-course funds

The call for 2021 includes field-course funds of up to NOK 3 000 000 for field-course activity until the end of 2023.

Application criteria

  • Up to 2-page application related to the strategic focus areas. The application must contain a description of the field course, timetable, scope, budget proposal and in-kind. In-kind for students and any subsidies from other sources of funding must appear from a total budget for the field course.
  • Permanent scientific staff can apply for funding from this call. This means group A / permanent employees as employees in group B do not have field-course responsibility.
  • You can apply for developing new field courses.
  • Maximum NOK 300 000 can be applied for per field course.
  • Funds can be applied for to cover field-course costs (e.g., bus ticket, airfare, accommodation, rental car etc.).
  • The host institute / department must cover any overconsumption at the end of the project / field course.

MSc. Alexander Westbye successfully completed the PhD defense on 23 June by defending his thesis Combined materials for calcium-copper chemical looping technology.

We congratulate Alexander with the PhD degree and also the supervisors, principal supervisor Asunción Aranda, (Institute for Energy Technology) and the co-supervisors Pascal Dietzel (KI) and Luca di Felice (Eindhoven University of Technology).

Congratulations Dr. Tri

MSc. Tri Quang Bui successfully completed the PhD defense on 18 June by defending his thesis Salinity Gradient Energy Utilizing Polyelectrolyte Hydrogels.

Torsdag 24. juni: Offentliggjøring av innvilgede søknader om Forskerprosjekt.

Du vil finne søknadsresultatet lett tilgjengelig via forsiden på forskningsradet.no den annonserte dagen. I tillegg sender vi ut et nyhetsbrev og en pressemelding. Søknadsresultatet blir også publisert under utlysningen du sendte søknaden til.

Hver enkelt søker vil få et svar på søknaden i Mitt nettsted. I svarbrevet får du beskjed om utfallet av søknadsbehandlingen, en tilbakemelding fra ekspertpanelet og, dersom søknaden er relevansvurdert, en kort generell beskrivelse av hva som ble vektlagt i porteføljevurderingene og hva som ble avgjørende for vedtaket.

Selv om utsendelsen av svarbrev starter så snart resultatet er offentliggjort, vil mange måtte regne med at svaret først kommer etter sommerferien. Vi vil også ta høyde for ferieavvikling ved institusjonene når vi setter fristene for å revidere innvilgede søknader og for å klage på avslag.

MSc. Helge Berland successfully completed the PhD defense on 3 June by defending his thesis Novel and colourful flavonoids – characterisation, secondary structures and properties.

Horizon Europe Info Days – 28 June to 9 July

The 10-day event will give the opportunity to prospective applicants, and other stakeholders of EU research and innovation, to get information and ask questions about what’s new, main funding instruments and processes of Horizon Europe.

The Horizon Europe info-days will address 9 themes, each featuring a programme of exclusive discussions and hands-on sessions, dedicated to a different cluster or part of the new programme.

Ethics Breakfast on Artificial Intelligence, Health and Ethical Challenges – 3 June, 09.00-10.30

On Thursday 3 June, a digital ethics breakfast will be arranged on artificial intelligence, health and ethical challenges. The question is no longer whether artificial intelligence will affect our lives, but when and where we are affected, who is behind it and how we will experience it. The lecturer is Kristine Bærøe, Professor in Medicinal Ethics and Philosophy of Science, UiB.

Varsel om kommende utlysninger for forskerprosjekter og samarbeidsprosjekter – frist 15. september

varsler om utlysninger med frist 15. september kl. 13.00. Foreløpig er det ikke kommet mange detaljer. Samlet lyser de ut 195 millioner kroner fordelt på to utlysninger.

Utlysningen vil ha formål om å oppnå radikalt ny teknologiutvikling gjennom grensesprengende forskning på tvers av de muliggjørende teknologiene.

Utlysningen vil ha formål om å oppnå radikalt ny teknologiutvikling på tvers av de muliggjørende teknologiene gjennom prosjekter som er innrettet mot å møte bærekraftsutfordringer. Prosjektene skal ha samarbeid mellom forskningsmiljøer og aktører utenfor forskningssektoren som representerer samfunnets og/eller næringslivets behov for ny kunnskap, forskningskompetanse og teknologi.

MSc. Silje Steinsholm successfully completed the PhD defense on 12 April by defending her thesis Sensory and Physicochemical Properties of Enzymatic Protein Hydrolysates.
